Mill Valley could be a great model to other communities as a city that promotes sustainable living. One program toward this would be to encourage, teach, and subsidize rain water catchment systems. The city of Oakland is currently offering residents water containers at practically the cost of shipping only to encourage people to catch their rain runoff and use it for landscaping irrigation in dry months. Mill Valley is the perfect place to install these simple systems. Any project like this also contributes to building community.
