Drive around Europe and rotaries are everywhere, presumably for a reason. Maybe MV, given some of it's European village yearnings, could do the same. Imagine rotaries at any of:

Blithedale and Camino
Miller and Camino
Downtown itself could somehow serve as an enormous rotary

In the centers you could have welcome markers and landscaping as appropriate. Maybe you need traffic lights as well for all-stops to allow pedestrians to go in any direction. W/o solving the Blithedale Narrows over near Whole Foods could be pointless. Plus it's not entirely clear the goal should be making it easier to drive around or enable vehicles -- but maybe it could be PART of a solution. And Americans don't know how to properly use rotaries, but we could learn.

Maybe they're not right for these locations but hey I'm sure the comments will bear that out.
