Miller Avenue Creek Silt

Its been a long time since the Miller Avenue Creek has flooded its banks. I have lived in Mill Valley a long time and remember at least three instances that the storm run-off coincided with high tides to flood Miller Avenue from the high school up to the 2:AM Club. While a major flood hasn't ocurred in years due to the Army Corp of Engineers work on lower Miller, a major flood is still possible. Why? Because of the silt build up in the creek from Camino Alto up to the bridge behind the old King's market (Marin Theater Company/ Eggers Plaza). As I stated I have lived in Mill Valley a long time, the Miller Avenue Creek used to host all types of fish including spring run steel head and sizeable rainbow trout. Not any more. All that's left is stickle back and mosquito fish. To prevent a future flood the creek needs to be deepend, not just cleaned of debris. The cheapest way to do this instead of dredging, would be to run a bulldozer a few times down the creek at low tide, mid-summer, from Eggers Plaza all the way down to Camino Alto where the muck could be removed by back and trucked off. If the creek isn't deepend, by removing the silt buildup, a major flood is sure to happen...why wait?
