People now in their 20's, as well as boomers, seem to prefer 'near-urban' environments consisting of denser housing (townhouses, apartments) within walking distance of services, restaurants, entertainment and transportation. We can provide this kind of attractive environment by controlled development in our outlying nodes, like Tam Valley, Strawberry, and Lower Miller Ave. Ensure that new housing is within walking distance (0.25 mile) of shops etc -- not strung out along the length of Miller. That way we can ensure that development in those areas grows new even more pleasant neighborhoods while allowing young families to get by with just one car. Let's leave the existing central village pretty much alone. Let's not limit ourselves to one pleasant walkable village center -- let's have several of them!
